How fit do I need to be?

You don't need to be a fitness fanatic to do these challenges. The majority of people who take part in these events will be just like you and will not necessarily have done anything like this before. However to get maximum enjoyment from these challenges training is vital and we will provide you with a detailed training plan tailored to the trip you are going on which we strongly recommend you stick to. We will also be on hand every step of the way to provide training advice.

Will I be able to raise the sponsorship level?

YES! Once you have started you will find that raising the minimum sponsorship is easy and most importantly fun! We will provide you with a breakdown of examples of how to raise the sponsorship money in an enjoyable way and we will of course be available every day to help you with more ideas! You are doing something quite simply amazing so make sure you tell everyone you know, and before you know it you will be racing towards your fundraising target!

When do I pay my sponsorship money?

You can start raising funds for your trip as soon as you sign up and we are on hand to help through out your fundraising. 80% of the sponsorship is due a minimum of 12 weeks before the trip with the rest due up to four weeks after your return. Can I extend my trip?

For most of the events we organise it will be possible to extend your trip for a nominal administration fee and subject to availability, allowing you the opportunity to explore in your own time. Will you help me?

YES! You will have one main contact here who will be on hand to help you in the lead up to the event. You will be sent a full confirmation pack shortly after you register on the event which will give you all the information you need but we are always here to make the event as enjoyable and hassle free as possible! And there will even be the opportunity to meet your fellow participants at a special gathering before the event!

What is the food like?

China Trek
Traditional Chinese cuisine will be on offer.
Costa Rica
Tradional Costa Rican dishes such as rice, chicken, pork & fish plus lots of coffee!
Cuba Cycle Ride
The cocina criolla (Creole Kitchen) was developed under Spanish and African influence.The most common Cuban foods include pork, chicken, rice, beans, tomatoes and lettuce.The Spanish influence is apparent in the use of rice, lemons, and oranges.
Iceland Trek
Most Icelandic meals you'll experience on the trip will start with a soup then a fine hearty meal consisting of lots of meat and fish.
London-Paris Cycle Ride
Lots of familiar European dishes will be on the menu!
Sahara Trek
You will be treated to delicious Moroccan specialities such as couscous served with vegetables and chicken and Tagine.
Peru Trek
You'll enjoy delicious Peruvian dishes which often comprise of local fish and lamb, with a few European additions you'll be familiar with!
Vietnam Cycle Ride
Traditional Vietnamese cuisine, which usually consists of delicious rice and noodle dishes, accompanied with fish and chicken.

What do I need to bring?

Trekking: No specialist kit is required though you will need to bring a sleeping bag and of course your own comfortable walking boots.

Cycling: No specialist kit is required but a gel saddle might be useful, and you will also need to bring along your own cycle helmet. Those of you going on the London to Paris Cycle Ride may prefer to bring your own bike as the trip starts in London, however if you are travelling to London from further a field, bike hire is included.
We will send you a full packing list for the trip you are going on once you have registered.

What will happen to my luggage during trekking/cycling days?

On all our challenges, your main luggage will be transported for you. You will just need to carry a bum bag or small daypack for any essentials like a camera and sun tan lotion.

How many people can take part?

The average group size on our overseas challenges is about 40 people although this does vary considerably depending on the trip

What type of accommodation will I be staying in?

The type of accommodation you will stay in varies from trip to trip but on our cycle challenges you will generally be staying in hotels and on our trekking challenges some camping is usually involved. What's included in the cost?

This varies from challenge to challenge but in general all your flights, accommodation, food and refreshments on trekking and cycling days will be covered within your minimum sponsorship level. Is there an age restriction?

You will need to be over 18 but there is no upper age limit. If you are over 65 you will just need to get a medical form signed by your doctor.

What about insurance?

You must have travel insurance cover in order to participate in any of these challenges. You can either arrange this yourself as long as your insurance company is aware of the nature of what you are doing and that it is a charity event or we can help you arrange this.
