Hi Mark,

That was the problem we found too, the price of the hotel. Paris is notoriously expensive so I'm not sure if my boyf will stay or head home on a late coach.

How's your training going?

Jo
Thanks,
Jo

Not long now!!

I'd love to know how they manage to find a route from Crystal Palace to Dover that takes 95 miles. There must be some interesting detours to keep us off the main roads.

Isn't the route London - Calais. Technically, 22 miles is across the Channel?

That's what I was thinking anyway.

xx
Thanks,
Jo

Jo,
I did L-P a couple of weeks ago; the cycle computer clocked up 100 miles by the time we got to the hotel in Calais on day 1; so it's definitely 90-95 miles from London to Dover, with more cycling on the other side of the channel to the hotels.....it's a long day, but the whole experience is worth it! You'll enjoy it!

Hi Sarah,
I'm excited & nervous lol. No worries about the milage, must go a round way :-) What type of roads dis you go on? Were they A roads or little back roads? I get nervous on A roads at the moment so am a bit wary. I live in Kent so am hoping to do the Crystal Palace- Dover ride before we go, just so I know I can do it lol.
Well done on doing it :-) xx
Thanks,
Jo

Jo,

The majority of roads from London to Dover were small back roads, with a few A roads to contend with (not many though). Getting out of London, we were in a huge group of cyclists, so we just took over the road; safety in numbers!! So the main A roads getting out of London weren't too bad, just snuggle into a group and you'll be protected! :) Having said that though, we seemed to get out of London reasonably quickly; within 10 miles (if that) we were in the countryside and it didn't feel very London-esque at all!!

Hope this helps..any other qu's don't hesitate to get in touch :)

Hi,
I was hoping the safety in numbers thing would work. :-) I think the first day will be the toughest because I know how far it is lol.
Thanks for the advice, I'm sure I'll be thinking of loads of stuff over the next 6 weeks. :-)
Jo x
Thanks,
Jo

Hi,
My mum clued me into this NHS travel card which replaced the E111 form. It covers you for accidents in the EU. You should get these as some insurances are invalid without it.
Just thought I'd pass the info on, head to www.nhs.uk & follow the links. They are free, just need your NI no. :-)
Getting so excited now! :-) xx
Thanks,
Jo
