South Africa Charity Trek

At the southern end of one of the world's most
exciting continents lies South Africa! Alive with wildlife,
traditions and jaw-dropping landscapes we begin our
journey in the vibrant capital of Cape Town!
From there we head off into the bush for an unforgettable journey
over mountain passes and open woodland before
we return and celebrate by trekking the iconic Table Mountain. This will undoubtedly be one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences of your life!

The following gives you a brief taste of the trek ahead but for more
detailed information please do not hesitate to contact one of the Overseas Team

Day 1 - Flight London - Cape Town
Day 2 - Arrive Cape Town
On arrival into Cape Town we will transfer to our overnight accommodation. There will be time to relax before a full briefing this evening.
Day 3 - Cape Town to Cederberg Wilderness Area
We arrive in the Cederberg around lunch time, after which we explore the imposing Stadsaal ("town hall") Caves on the Matjiesrivier Reserve.
Day 4 - Cederberg Wilderness Area
Trek from Algeria Forrest Station past an impressive waterfall up to Die Trap ("the step") shale band. Take in great views of the massive Cederberg Tafelberg.
Day 5 - Cederberg Wilderness Area
Trek upto Die Trap via Welgedaght Kloof and then along the base of Cederberg Tafelberg to Sanddrif. At 1969m Cederberg Tafelberg is almost 1000m higher than its more famous namesake over 300km away in Cape Town.
Day 6 - Cederberg Wilderness Area
Ascending the impressive Valley of the Red Gods to the top of the Wolfberg and view the impressive Wolfberg Arch. Descend to Sanddrif for a well deserved rest.
Day 7 - Transfer to Cape Town
We arrive in Cape Town by lunch time, after which you have time at relax and enjoy this cosmopolitan city.
Day 8 - Table Mountain Hike
What a better way to finish our trek but to climb the famous landmark of Table Mountain. We trek this well-known landmark via the Platteklip Gorge.
Day 9 - Departure Cape Town
Depending on departure times there will be a free time before we transfer to the airport and wave goodbye to South Africa as we fly home.
Day 10 - London
Arrive back into London

Is the trip for me?
Absolutely! The majority of people on the South Africa trek won't have done
anything link this before so you will all be in the same boat! Most
participants will be on the trip on their own although some may come along with
friends or family. You won't ever regret choosing to go on this challenge - and
when else will you have the opportunity to make so many new friends in such a
short space of time!!
How fit do I need to be?
You don't need to be a fitness fanatic to do this trek . The majority of
people who are taking part will be just like you and will not necessarily have
done anything like this before. However to get maximum enjoyment from this
challenge training is vital and we will provide you with a detailed training
plan which we strongly recommend you stick to. We will also be on hand every
step of the way to provide training advice.
How much do I have to raise?
£3000

Will I be able to raise the sponsorship level?
YES! Once you have started you will find that raising the minimum sponsorship
is easy and most importantly fun! We will provide you with a breakdown of
examples of how to raise the sponsorship money in an enjoyable way and we will
of course be available every day to help you with more ideas! You are doing
something quite simply amazing so make sure you tell everyone you know, and
before you know it you will be racing towards your fundraising target!
What deposit do I have to pay?
£349
Can I extend my trip?
Yes! For a nominal administration fee your flight can be extended (subject to
availability) which will give you the opportunity to explore more of this
fantastic country in your own time
Will you help me?
YES! One of our highly experienced trip co-ordinators will be on hand to help
you throughout the months leading up to the event. You will be sent a full
confirmation pack shortly after you register which will give you all the
information you need but we are always here to make the event as enjoyable and
hassle free as possible! And there will even be the opportunity to meet your
fellow participants at a special gathering before the event!
What is the food like?
We will be eating lots of home favourites like chicken, boerewora (sausage),
rice, pasta and of course the traditional South African BBQ known as a braai.
What do I need to bring?
No specialist kit is required but you will be sent a full kit list upon signing up!
What will happen to my luggage during trekking days?
Your luggage will be transported for you by one of our support vehicles. You
will just need to carry a bum bag or small daypack for any essentials like a
camera and sun tan lotion.
How many people can take part?
The average group size on our overseas challenges is about 20 people although
this does vary considerably depending on the trip.
What type of accommodation will I be staying in?
A mixture of hotels, guest houses and bush lodges.
What's included in the cost?
All food on trek days, internal travel, accommodation, bikes, water and
refreshments on trekking days, mechanics, guides, a doctor and medical support
Is there an age restriction?
You will need to be over 18 but there is no upper age limit. If you are over 65
will just need to get a medical form signed by your doctor
What about insurance?
You must have travel insurance cover in order to participate in this challenge.
You can either arrange this yourself (as long as your insurance company is
aware of the nature of what you are doing and that it is a charity event) or we
can help you arrange this.
