Day 1
Depart UK

Day 2
Depending on the flight times there may be an opportunity to explore the historic capital of Hanoi, and all its hustle and bustle, before we head to the hotel for a full trip briefing and an early night!

Day 3 Hanoi Pu Luong (Hang Village)
After breakfast we drive into the Pu Luong Nature Reserve and stop on route to enjoy a scenic lunch in the Mai Chau valley. We then begin our trek to the village of Hang, which is inhabited by indigenous Thai peoples. Tonight we are welcomed into their homes, built on stilts, where we can enjoy a well earned rest, their wonderful hospitality and discover a little more about their lives and culture.
Approx: 3 hours trek

Day 4 Trek to Kho Muong Village
This morning we will have a traditional breakfast before we begin the first big trek. We follow rocky paths through the dense jungle as we find our way to a small local village and settle down for lunch. Continuing through the jungle, we pass several Vietnamese villages until we reach Kho Muong. This village is home to the Muong minority and we will be their guests for the evening.
Approx: 6 hours trek

Day 5 Trek to Hin Village
Todays trekking will be a little more adventurous as we cross rivers and streams and encounter some steep climbs. For most of the morning, we follow the river until you come across an incredible cave, only recently discovered and now protected by the forest rangers. As our trek continues we will enter more remote areas, although we are never too far from a local tending their fields! Our home for the evening is another welcoming homestay.
Approx: 6 hours trek

Day 6 Trek to Cao Village Pho Doan Mai Chau Community Project Site
After breakfast we descend a wide valley to the Ma river and follow its gently curving banks until we arrive in the town of Pho Doan, where you will have the opportunity to explore a traditional local market . We continue tracing the banks of the Ma river, passing rice paddies and water mills. We will have lunch in Mai Chau before transferring to our community project site and the local families who will be welcoming us into their homes for the next 2 nights.
Approx: 5 hours trek

Day 7 Community Project
We have a traditional Vietnamese breakfast before we begin our community project. Tonight we enjoy dinner whilst entertained by traditional performances from the villagers beside the bonfires.

Day 8 Community Project
Today we complete our community project and end with a handover ceremony in the afternoon where we will bid farewell to our hospitable guests and local people. We transfer to our hotel for the night before we celebrate all our achievements at a restaurant thats supports local disadvantaged youths.

"I find myself often thinking very fondly of our wonderful time in Vietnam - the sights, the sounds, the smells as you hike along, past laughing waving children, chickens in the dust, and the soaring impossible hills and wide rice terraces. It has to be the only way to explore a new country - so much more accessible and real than a car or a bus. Don't hesitate - sign up and have the time of your life!" Alastair Craig - Vietnam
